Its been a long time since I last blogged. What have I been busy with ??? Well I am about to share the one of the most exciting things I have been doing :) I have become a part of a group by the name "In-Action ". This group consists of a lot of enthusiastic techies who think they can be more than just techies.
It is interesting the way we came together when we were all working towards a common event. We realised that we actually enjoyed the process of script writing, stage shows and would like to continue doing it. Believe me you have to be part of one script writing to know why we are addicted to it. The actual shooting was done using minimal resources in terms of camera and get up of the actors.Though the vision of this group is to be a production house we are currently investing only time and efforts :)
We released our first video on 6 March and our second this mid march. Please watch these videos and provide us with your valuable inputs. We take all inputs seriously and would love to hear from you about our videos and about our group. I have provided a copy of the group introduction to Janma Jaladi above along with the link to the videos. Please have a look and let me know.
I love reading books. For the past couple of years I was addicted to romance novels. The beauty of these novels is that it gives you a feeling of happily ever afters. I guess I was addicted more to the perfection depicted in those novels than the stories itself. I always felt that I should have done better - scored better in schools, worked better at office, maintained a perfect schedule and discipline etc etc. Nothing ever felt perfect to me( though of late my parents do seem to be the perfect parents I could ever have :))
I obsess over every tiny mistake whether it was something I said to someone at the wrong time or whether it was something I didn't do at the right time. I just didn't seem to be able to have a perfect day or be a perfect lady. I kept feeling all the time that I am a horrible horrible person for the tiniest of mistakes....
But today looking back over all the time I have spent I realize that perfection would have been extremely boring. My everyday starts with what to set right and what I want to avoid that day. Every new days brings the hope that maybe today I will get my recipe for perfection right. And I can see that this is what keeps us going.
Imagine you were born with everything you wish you wanted, then there is nothing left to do. It is this pursuit which is Life. And I hope I never stop trying to get the recipe of life right.
A dog is probably the most faithful creature in the world. so faithful that it does not hesitate to go to any extent to save its master. Here i am talking about domestic dogs. i,on the contrary, find stray dogs rather nice.
Every morning when i go with my friend on her scooty for tuition , apart form the morning cold ,i have to think about a huge dog running loose at a particular cross. its always welcomes us with a huge bark that echoes through the coola nd the serene morning atmosphere.simultaneously my friend speeds up the vehicle as i wave it goodbye ,mind you its a domestic animal. You may be surprised to know that even after a year i have not been beyond the gates of my neighbour. How could i? when there stands the watch dog with its watchful eyes on me.
When i was in Udupi , i had been to a friends house.Since her dog was dead i had no problem entering the house. When out of Nowhere a cute little dog(Cute to look from afar) ran towards me.I was in no mood to 'paw shake' with the visitor. So i immediately took to my heels and occupied a safe place on the terrace and refused to come down for an introduction with the visitor.
Once on a visit to my Grandma's place,i went with my cousins to meet a neighbour. A huge dog charged out of the door at me.I did not know what to do.I played 'Hide and Seek' with the dog but it did not seem to like this game much,it rather seemed to like the statue game where in you have to stand still. Now the poor thing is dead and may its soul rest in peace It was in Udupi ,we had a white dog in our compound.Since it was a white dog all my friends decided to call it snowy.I,who was under the influence of Enid Blyton's 'Famous Five' novels wanted to call it Timothy (named after the dog in the novel). The poor creature was very confused when all of us stood in our respective galleries and called it by different names. It had a strange habit of sniffing the bags carried by us.When i was in 5th std i returned from school to find the dog near the quarters entrance and as usual i kept my lunch bag on the ground for it to sniff. But it seems he was in a more friendly mood. He came towards me.The expected reaction from me was "Amma....aaaaaa" i shrieked and ran a huge round in the compound and came back to the quarters and did not stop till i reached my home on the second floor. When my neighbour tried to stop me on the first floor i shouted 'No aunty ,he'll come up here also ' and ran up.I was so fast that if P.T.Usha was there ,she would readily surrender her golden shoes to me.
My cousin was a late riser.I said that she start getting up early only when the tail of a dog became straight. One day she excitedly called me and said 'Look there is a dog with a straight tail ' I turned back to see.Indeed there was a dog with a straight tail.Only it was a little short, about 2 inches after an verterinarian worked on it.
Normally dogs drive away thieves by barking at them.Do you know that it can also help thieves by keeping silent? People who frequent the house can be friendly to the dogs.Police work on this theory and get at the thieves. It may interest you to know that a king lost his throne because of a dog.The King was so infatuated with the dog that he almost emptied his treasury to celebrate in all grandeur the marriage of his pet dog.It did not amuse the British who were his overlords and promptly showed him the door.So a Dog can make or mar a King.
Near my house lies a block for bachelors.Their landlord is an ardent lover of dogs. His ferocious dog is the apple of his eye and always chained near the door. The people getting into the house barely miss the canine of the dog.Yet the landlord insists that it is a friendly one.The inhabitants are wise. They have already purchased anti-rabies drugs as a precaution. They have also collected a few books about dogs for thier better.
Let me tell you about a recent happening. The master of the house forgot to chain the dog.The front door was a little open.Perhaps having watched the master enjoying a nap over the sofa for long, the dog wanted to experience the same. it entered the house and suddenly jumped on the sofa.A family member enticed, cajoled and finally threatened .But the dog ignored all this imperiously. Finally it required all the skill and ingenuity of all senior neighbours to bring it out.
Even persons in high office had thier own pet.Whenever Presidents Kennedy,Nixon and recently Clinton went for holidaying they were pictured with thier dogs,Hitler may have been notorious .But even he had his weakness for dogs.In fact he saw to it that his dog led him to heaven or hell before he ended his life
I think i am safe because dogs cannot read this. They won't chase for writing it and P.T.Usha can rest assured that her record is safe :-)
Its 6 am in the morning and i am finding myself penning down this blog!!!! Its seems the all the brilliant philosophies of life must occur to us in the morning since that's when we start worrying abt the day ahead of us...Before i start being my garrulous self abt my life let me complete the preliminaries of introducing myself in my first blog. My name is inconsequential here but i would like to be known as Aaron ( caught a fancy for this name while choosing one for my nephew :) ).. a female of age 21 from India and an Engineer of Computer Science by qualification ( soon to be "by profession" ). I am currently in the unstable state where in i have finished my degree and will be joining a software company in Sept or may be november depending on which one i choose...... My hobbies include reading books and playing games online....I am usually very garrulous and have two best friends (who can be called upon to testify for my sane mental state if u ever begin to doubt abt it !)...Now let's move on to weightier matters.
This blog will solely be abt Engineers as observed by me in these 4 yrs. Ask any engineer what it is that defines the profession and what is their driving motivation factor. These two questions are enough to reveal their entire engg study and their future attitudes in their career. I have encountered altogether 3 type of engineers. I will call them " Eternal Student (ES)","Idealistic Fools (IF)" and the " Practical Geek (PG)". Why do i call them so? Defining them here " An ES as stated remains the student forever during the entire 4 yrs and if not enlightened for their lives. These are the people whose sole aim in their course is the marks and the completion of journals and lab term works (by ANY POSSIBLE means). They never realize the whole objective of this course and why the hell are they in here and how can they affect the future development of technology as a whole. There every goal is based on the basic needs of "ROTI KAPDA AUR MAKAN" and obviously the bigger the makan the better!!!. You can easily recognize these people since they have an almost evil gleam in their eyes when the results are out or after the exams when u stand discussing the paper u will find them quoting from the text books. In Labs u will find them with their elder relatives or friends programs in their books and are most in demand people when journal completion date approaches. In their careers i am sure u will find these people doing their jobs by the requisite method and are always on schedule (By far the most irritating aspect of their personality). You will find their memories in competition with our hard disks and SDRAMS.These are the people who can be expected to run their lives by a clock work precision since no risks are ever involved .They always are on the side of the ESTABLISHMENT!!! Moving on to the IF's these are the people whom ES's goto when they need a little polish on their Viva or when they want a final year project. However u won't find the IF's anywhere on the dais for academic excellence i assure u.Why u may wonder- since their interests in their fields don't usually fall in line with that of the university curriculum. So they spend their time actually working out all the lab term works themselves thereby having no time to study for the recurring internals or journals.these people usually are the most dissatisfied lot in the college dragged in opposite directions one of their interests and another of their academic requirements and family pressure to maintain them. So if they are strong they end up graduating in 4 yrs with the degree but disillusioned with their career and profession. If they end up following their interests they end up doing their course for more than 4 yrs but dissatisfied and confused whether they made the right choice. In worst case in their futures they end up working for those ES whom they once explained the importance of those ideas they were taught. In Best case they are the future of technology if they are recognized or pave their own way. Moving on to the PG.These are a few of the rarest people i have met who combine the best of both ES and IF. Ideally these are the outputs we should have from our colleges in maximum numbers .These people do all their college work on time and yet never lose sight of the goals of engg and are having a motivation factor besides those of ES and are at heart an IF,however practical enough to prioritize their goals maintaining a fine balance in life. You will find them the success in the field of their choice and they usually are the best managers for the IF's in their career since they can appreciate the talents of IF but still separate the practical from the impractical. This was a brief overview of my observations and i invite u r thoughts on the same. Next blog may be on the engg college environment which gives rise to these categories of engineers.
